The Soap Opera’s Four Thieves Essential Oil Blend is made from a rich and spicy blend of Clove, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, and Cinnamon. Why “Four Thieves”? The name comes from a story by the same name that takes place during the time the Black Plague swept over Europe. As people began to succumb to the plague, four spice traders decided that it would be more profitable to loot the homes and bodies of the victims than to stick with their day jobs. They believed that so long as they breathed in certain spices, they would be protected from the miasma of illness and could loot to their heart’s content. They were largely successful, until the king had them captured and kindly offered to not burn them at the stake if they shared their secret blend of herbs and spices, of which they promptly divulged.

In modern aromatherapy, the Four Thieves blend is commonly used to kill airborne bacteria and to stimulate the immune system. Putting a few drops into a diffuser can also help those who are suffering from congestion and respiratory issues breathe freely. Its warm, spicy aroma is also useful for covering foul odors.
