Enriched with organic verbena extract from Provence, the L’Occitane Verbena Shower Gel gently cleanses, leaving the body delicately scented with a fresh citrus fragrance. In Provence, summer time means the beginning of the verbena harvest. On their way to the distillery, freshly picked verbena leaves travel alongside rivers and streams, where their invigorating scent blends with the freshness of running water.

While exploring his native Provence nearly 25 years ago, Olivier Baussan created L’Occitane by capturing the region’s most subtle fragrances and blending them with natural ingredients. Using the traditional method of extraction, he developed L’Occitane’s very first products based on essential oils extracted from local plants.

From his rustic roots in Provence, Olivier dreamed of discovering new horizons, to travel beyond his native land and experience other cultures. In keeping with this spirit, L’Occitane developed a humanitarian-partnership with African women. In the Burkina Faso village in Africa, the native women harvest Shea nuts and are the co-producers of L’Occitane’s complete Shea Butter Collection. Thus, it is a tale of Provence meets Africa on ethical grounds.

Today, L’Occitane focuses on protecting the fading traditions and vanishing techniques that everyone should be enjoying. L’Occitane breathes new life into these authentic customs by recreating the genuine articles such as its famous “Marseilles Soaps” as well as the revival of its Verbena and Lavender Harvests each year.

YES, it is back, but now even better! NEW updated package. Yes, this is the Original Spanish La Toja Gel de Sales, just as you remembered it when we carried it many years ago. No fragrance compares!

“I just placed my order a few minutes ago and I wanted to let you know how thrilled I was to find The Soap Opera on the web. I first started using La Toja Gel de Sales as a college student at MSU in the late 70’s and for years have lamented the fact that it was no longer available. On a whim I got on the web and there you were. I am looking forward to ordering my absolute favorite bath product again and again. You have another loyal customer. Thanks again!” -Robin S.

La Toja is named after the tiny island off Galicia where the company was founded. The mineral springs there were said to have healing powers and La Toja began making soap from the spa’s mineral salts in the early 20th century. When the 50’s came around, Spain entered fully into the era of the image. Cosmetic and perfume manufacturers began to sell magic and glamour in a bottle. La Toja responded with the creation of Magno, the first black soap that produced a white-as-snow foam. The exotic scent and quality of the soap made it universally loved and popular even to this day.

Awaken your senses with a burst of fresh cherry blossoms as you gently cleanse your skin with the L’Occitane Cherry Blossom Bath & Shower Gel. Evoking the first days of spring, its fragrance is enhanced with a cherry extract from the Luberon region of Provence. When used as a shower gel, a foaming base ensures a luxurious lather, and skin is left delicately perfumed. When used in the bath, it transforms into a rich foam, which releases the delicate and enveloping fragrance of Cherry Blossom.

The cherry tree is part of the Provençal landscape. It is widespread in the Apt region, in Luberon, and changes colors with the seasons – making it a source of inspiration for artists: pure white in spring, bright red in summer, soft green in autumn. With this collection of fragrances, bath and body care products, L’OCCITANE celebrates the poetic beauty of the cherry blossom and its delicate, feminine flowers during the first days of spring.

In 1970, Dr. Dennis Sepp, an organic chemist, began exploring natural, ayurvedic ingredients for hair and skin care. As a scientist, Dr.Sepp knew that the natural world offered functional ingredients that were better and safer than conventional chemical ingredients.

His first study was with shikakai (Acacia Concinna), a traditional Indian herbal used for cleansing the hair. He created a water soluble extract from shikakai powder that maintains the effectiveness of the ancient remedies. The result was ShiKai shampoo, and the beginning of our natural products company.

ShiKai now manufactures more than 50 products, sold in premium markets all over the world.

Enriched with Lavender essential oil from Haute Provence, the L’Occitane Lavender Shower Gel gently cleanses the skin and leaves it pleasantly scented. Lavender was one of the first flowers distilled by Olivier Baussan, the founder of L’OCCITANE. Known in Provence as “blue gold,” this plant is an aromatic tribute to the south of France and is the fragrant soul of the region. L’OCCITANE uses lavender that is sourced from farmers’ cooperatives in Haute-Provence.
